A Lifesaver with a Calm Temperament

Sharwood isn’t just a hero because of his donations his personality is equally remarkable. According to his owner, Sue Mitchell, Sharwood is a "very laid-back dog" who enjoys his exercise, food, and life in general. But despite his easygoing nature, his work as a blood donor has been nothing short of heroic.

Sue expressed her pride and joy in Sharwood's incredible record, stating, "I'm absolutely delighted that Sharwood is the record holder for the number of donations given to Pet Blood Bank."

A Long History of Giving

Sharwood’s journey as a blood donor began when he was just 13 months old. For Sue, it was important for Sharwood to be part of the program because, as she wisely pointed out, "You never know when your dog may possibly have to have a transfusion, and if you have suitable dogs that can do this donating then it's well worth it."

This proactive approach to donating has proven to be lifesaving for other canines in need. His blood donations have been crucial for critically ill or injured pets requiring urgent medical care. Thanks to Sharwood, many dogs have been able to survive and recover from dangerous conditions.
