What happens when your monitor loses power
There are two situations where a Power Loss Alert fires — and they work slightly differently.
When your monitor is plugged in:
- If there's a power outage, you'll receive a Power Loss Alert right away.
- Once power is restored, a Power Recovery Alert is sent automatically. No action needed on your end.
When your monitor is unplugged manually:
- The device switches to battery mode — but a Power Loss Alert is still sent.
- This is by design. The monitor doesn't know whether you unplugged it on purpose or the power went out. It notifies you either way.
In short: any time your device loses power — whether it's an outage or an accidental unplug — you'll be notified. No guessing required.
How to turn off your Waggle Pet Monitor
Turning off the monitor is a two-step process. You need to unplug it first, then press the power button. Here's why that order matters — and how to do it correctly.
- Unplug the device from the charger.
- Wait for the screen to go black. This may take a few moments — don't press anything yet.
- Once the screen is fully off, press and hold the power button on the front of the device.
- The device will power off completely.
How to turn it back on
Press and hold the same power button for a few seconds. The device will start up as normal.
Why you need to unplug it before pressing the Waggle Pet Monitor power button
The monitor stays running when it's plugged in. Pressing the power button while charging won't shut it down. It will remain on. Unplug it first. Wait for the screen to go dark. This prepares the device to accept the power-off command.

- The power button is located on the front of the device.
- If the screen doesn't go black after unplugging, give it a moment — it can take a few seconds.
- A full power-off is different from the monitor going into sleep mode. Sleep mode still runs in the background. A power-off stops the device completely.
